Two Extremes

My life swings between two extremes. Most of the time I’m sociable, talkative, barely spend any time on my own. Then there’s a sudden slump, everything goes dark and I forget how I’m supposed to work. I used to think that the girl with the bright smile was me while the other girl was dysfunctional and flawed. Someone who has to be fixed. I never considered the option that the latter could be taking care of me, putting on the emergency brake in order...

Breaking the Silence

The longer silence lasts, the harder it is to break it. ✕ ✕ ✕ I want to be happy. Celebrate life, dance till dawn, walk around with a big smile, a skip in my stride, the lyrics of my favourite song on my lips. Laugh with my loved ones, have honest late night talks.. it’s been too long. Reality has been different lately. There were way too many dark days. I became an empty shell and couldn’t prevent it from happening. I mourn the wasted days...

365 Project – Week 3

Last week was very emotional. Seven days full of tears and stress, but also happiness and laughter. Saying goodbye to my love, meeting my new classmates, seeing my old friends.. I haven’t met my roommates (nor have I seen my room) yet so I’m quite curious how everything will unfold. Life’s an adventure, and I love it. I hope you’ve had a lovely weekend...

Finding Uruguay In Italy

Staying in Italy for four days at my blogger friend Italian Hurricane‘s place made me realise how similar Italy and Uruguay are. The architecture, some dishes, the smell of the stairs of the house.. finding Uruguay in those details comes unexpected, and it hits me hard. It’s weird, I travel several hours by train into Switzerland’s neighbouring country and I find myself reminded of South America, thousands of kilometers away. I’ve always known that most of the Uruguayans are descendants of the Spanish and Italians,...

Spring Foolishness

I’m at my friend Lisi’s place in Frankfurt, getting ready in the bathroom. From the gap under her roommate’s door sounds ‘Auf Uns’ by Andreas Bourani. It sounds familiar to me. He sings out loud, wholeheartedly, celebrating life. Who is freezing this moment for us It can’t be better than this. … Here’s to what lies ahead for us That there will be the best for us Here’s to what unites us To this time ∙•∙ Here’s to us To this life, To this...
